Class Size and Overload Information

Please be sure you are being paid correctly…check your pay stubs and do the math!!
 
Know your class size limit.  This is set by the board and posted on-line.  The MGSD has total control over setting class size guidelines at this point.

Know where you are on the salary scale.  Keep all documentation in a folder that the district sends to you.

Overload pay shall be computed at the end of each semester and paid within 30 days of the end of each semester.

The district has the right to put one “extra” student in a class without having to pay you more.

If more than one student is place you get paid 2% of your regular contract salary per student in excess of the applicable class size guideline.
 
Here are some examples:
SAMPLE A: Max guideline = 24 students
                                    Hour 1: 25 (2%)
                                    Hour 2: 26 (4%, total now 6%)
                                    Hour 3: 27 (6%, total now 12%)
                                    Hour 4: 28 (8%, total now 20%)
                                    Hour 5: 22    
                        Total compensation is 20% of teacher’s salary.
 
SAMPLE B: Max guideline = 24 students
                                    Hour 1: 25
                                    Hour 2: 24
                                    Hour 3: 24
                                    Hour 4: 24
                                    Hour 5: 24    
                        Teacher is not compensated for additional student.
 
SAMPLE C: Max guideline = 24 students
Hour 1: 25 (2%)
                                    Hour 2: 25 (2%, total now 4%)
                                    Hour 3: 25 (2%, total now 6%)
                                    Hour 4: 25 (2%, total now 8%)
                                    Hour 5: 25 (2%, total now 10%)
                        Total compensation is 10% of teacher’s salary.
 
If you are not compensated correctly, please notify the Payroll Director at the District Office.
